Bio-Weave is doing this by merging wasteless 3D technology and biodegradable plastics.

 Weaving has been using 3D technology since the 1980s. Following 2010, the technique gained traction and started to be used in the apparel industry.

Conventional plastics are out! Fossil-based and non-biodegradable materials such as PE (can be produced biobased), PP, PET are very important contributors of the climate change. 

Nonetheless, they are employed in textile industry due to their exceptional robustness, simplicity in manufacturing, and—above all— its low cost. Is there any alternatives?

Maybe there is. These days, it's very popular to use bioplastics reinforced with natural fibers. The expensive bioplastics, which have many environmentally friendly features in terms of use of waste raw materials and it is being biodegradable, are typically not very durable. When they are coupled with inexpensive natural fibers, final product could have desired stiffness and biodegradability.
